Within the pages of this book you'll find not one but three terrific love stories all bound together with a skillful paranormal thread. Normally I feel short-changed when a book concentrates on more than one couple but that wasn't the case this time around. Because each love story is so entwined with the plot and all of the characters continue to interact with each other once the focus shifts from their romance I never felt that cheated. All three heroes are a bit on the "arrogant alpha" side but [...]

This was ok until the end. The end was rediculous. 2.5 stars

A friend sent me the book in a box full of books and I finally got around to reading it. It sounded like one of the best in the bunch and so far it really was. I've never read anything by Donna Kauffman before but she did a great job with this book. The three Claren women are Maggie, Cailean and Delaney. They each have a section of the book. The first part of the book is about Maggie and Duncan. Maggie is running from her ex-fiance who would rather have her dead then not have her. She has inherit [...]

Too dry. Some potentially good parts were told, not shown. Needed more time for relationship developmentORY BRIEF:The book is divided into three stories within one overall plot. Three hundred years ago, two Scottish clans feuded and fought. Three MacKinnon brothers were supposed to marry three Claren sisters to bring about peace. Two of the sisters had psychic/seer abilities. None of the marriages happened, and a curse was placed on the three brothers. In 1998, Lachlan Claren died and left prope [...]

Now that I am reading another of her books, I realized why I have seen her & why the author seems so familiar! I checked the list and saw that I only had one book marked as a "to read" book Then I had an "AHA" moment! So, here is my story!I was at a scrapbook convention as a vendor years ago & met several authors who also scrapbooked. Because I had small children & had no time to read, the only one who really stood out was the author of the Amber Brown books. But then I met Donna Kau [...]

I met her years ago at a scrapbook convention. She was great! Later I found out she was an author, and she sent me one of her books this one signed. It was my intro to romance/paranormal romance - ghosts with limited time. I never thought to read romance at all Years ago, I would give this a 5 star. Not much romance at all, but what did I know. Since then I have so graduated to other books, better faster stories. I had a dry spell (years)and did not have time to read other than Harry Potter & [...]

5 stars isn't enough! The Legend McKinnon is a 1998 release from Donna Kauffman that needs to be read if you haven't had the true pleasure of reading it! If you have at any previous time, it is time to take your copy off your KEEPER shelf (where it must hold pride of place) read it again! This contemporary tale that crosses centuries will mesmerize you, and keep you in its thrall until the last page has turned! A tale of redemption and pain, love and belonging is the best read ever from the phen [...]

It had the potential to be good, but it was just too weird towards the end. The story starts out in modern day America. A young woman is staying at an old home which (for some reason) is haunted by a Scottish ghost. That was a little odd. how did the ghost get "across the pond"? But I let that one slide. But then someone the modern day girl travels through a magical tunnel to Scotland. I really don't know what to say. I actually reread the book, hoping to understand it better, but I'm still confu [...]

  • Gail says:

Donna Kauffman dreams up a fun and imaginative plot, but presents one-dimensional protagonists (with frustratingly literal explanations of their character composition and emotional experiences; c'mon, "show not tell"), implausible closeness (she describes relationships between women created over years, not days), unrealistic dialogue, and even grammatical errors. The story resolves in a satisfying manner, however. If you've read a lot in this genre and are looking for one more, go for it; but "T [...]

I liked the characters, but honestly I did not enjoy them all being in one book. I wish the author had just made it a series. It's just some of the relationships seemed so rush and it was hard for me to see some of them as deep an meaningful like she wanted them to be. Some still felt like the I like you a lot but I wouldn't call it love. In fact, I think I really like the first couple mention in the beginning of story.

  • Julie says:

So so time travel story, set in contempory times Scotland. Three cursed brothers from 300 years earlier meet the descendents of their clan's enemies, three women cousins. All meet their match (and mate) and try to figure out how to end the curse. Took me forever to get through this book, just didn't pull me in or keep me interested. It wasn't bad, but nothing compelling in it for me, when it should have been. ktleyed/2011/01/l

Cheesy good fun! Perfect summer read! Loved it! I have one word of caution though, might be slightly addictive. I had serious issues putting the book down to take care of errandsyou know life. Now that I'm done I wish I wasn't. find my next book :) I like Donna Kaufman's writing style. The characters and world are well developed and really get the reader engaged in the story. This was the first Donna Kaufman book that I've read. I will be reading more from her.

I'd grabbed this at Goodwill one time on a whim. Read it during the two evenings our power was out. It was decent enough to hold my interest, but just a little too much to have the three heroines - one with a little more story would've been much better. Still, decent way to pass the hours in the dark, reading by lantern and flashlight.

  • Heather Monfre says:

As far a romance type books go this was one of the better ones for me because I'm really not into the overly descriptive, hot and heavy books. They usually come across as cheesy so I steer clear of the genre as a whole. Somehow this ended up on my bookshelf at home so I read it. The story itself is really cool and I loved the development of it.

  • Sharon says:

An ancient curse has sentenced the seventeenth-century MacKinnon brothers to terrible fates, and only the twentieth-century American Claren women can break the spell, but the two clans are long-standing enemies.I thought the idea of the brothers having 3 different curses made against them was very original.Ya gotta love the Scottish highlanders.

  • T.R. says:

Woke up this morning thinking about this book - despite the fact that it has been more than 10 years since I read it! I can only conclude that reading Gail Carriger's Parasol Protectorate series has put Scotland firmly in my mind. Perhaps this little gem warrants a re-visit :)
