Great Story! Kept me Guessing. Great Narration! (Audible whispersync review)Wow this was was great story. I loved it. It was darker than the first book in the series, which made it even better. I liked Brenda and Nick they had some great chemistry and a couple of hot and steamy sex scenes. The story line and plot were great. This one is about a serial killer named Seven. It was awesome. She was just the right amount of crazy that you kind of liked her, and had empathy at the same time. This stor [...]

For me, this was a very disturbing novel! It was, at parts, very confusing, but also had me on the edge of my seat at times. There were also times where I thought that the series was actually more of a saga of Amelia's journey toward being a whole, normal person. In this book, the main couple is Brenda Banks and Nick Blackwood. Brenda was a very annoying heroine, constantly trying to interfere in the investigation to further her career at the news station. Her depression as a teenager that led i [...]

I really disliked Brenda and I honestly couldn't figure out what Nick saw in her.

My MusingsWhat an exciting book. It kept me on the edge of my seat from the beginning to the end. Can't wait to read the next one in this series.Happy ☺reading 📚!

Ok. I mostly enjoyed this book. It was easy to read and had an unusual plot that I wasn't always able to predict. I was irritated by the romantic plot though and found it all too contrived and unnatural. The 'hunger' of it all wasn't quite right. In some parts the story wasn't quite clever enough and the author relied upon convenience rather than imagination and intelligence. Otherwise a good read.

Great boom but didn't realize it was a trilogy. Guess I started at book 2 :)

Her Dying Breath: A Slaughter Creek Novel Book 2 is by Rita Herron. This book was impossible to put down. You just had to know what was going to happen. Two of the victims of the experiments of the CHIMES group were watching Brenda Banks give her report on the capture of Commander Arthur Blackwood. He had been missing for ten years and Sadie had thought she had killed him and so she ran. However, he hadn’t died and was now in custody. His sons, Jake and Nick, were very happy he had been caught [...]

Just as Good as Book1I knew the Slaughter Creek Novels were a series when I purchased them. Usually novels that make a series have the same main characters and the storylines do overlap a little. But, this series is different and I love how it is written. The Book 2 plot was a continuation of the Book 1 plot. Different parts of the plot have been solved in each book while adding new twists and turns to be solved in the next book in the series. New characters are also added. Ms. Herron's writing [...]

Brenda didn't start off very well with me. She's taken news reporter to a whole new level of heartless. She's showed that she cares not about a murdered man or innocent children experimented on, she cares about the hot story and the glory that comes with it, exposing guilty men, not getting justice for the citizens. She's selfish and greedy. I also don't understand how Nick and Jake put up with her nosy, pushy, interviews knowing she posed a risk for hurting the case and they were still question [...]

And the beat goes on!The second book in this series picked up with the Sheriff's brother, (a special agent with the FBI) reuniting with his sibling and partnering to solve a case that involves their father. Just when you think nothing worse could happen, something worse happens. The book moves along at a good pace and keeps you guessing. Looking forward to its conclusion.

  • Suzie Johnson says:

Not for the faint heartedThough the best of the series so far, this book deals with past child abuse. It does not go into deep detail, but may be disturbing to some. The psychological thriller title still fits!I had to read it straight through. Can't wait to read the third book---as soon as it downloads.

  • Erika says:

Even better than book 1!Loved the first book but this one was even better! Nick, Brenda and Seven are great characters and the twists and turns of the story kept me on the edge of my seat.

Beware graphic sexual related violence. This is book 2 in the series and I think it was better than book one. I would like to see a little more in-depth character development.

Love this seriesLoved the second book in the series! It kept me turning the pages. Can't wait to read the third one in this series. She's an amazing author!

  • Tammy says:

This was a much darker story than the previous book and the prequel. This is a dark series to begin with as it involves child abuse. However this story was even darker due to the extremely violent sexual content. This is NOT a book for the faint of heart. With that being said, I did enjoyed this book .The characters are multi layered and interesting. The mystery has lots of fascinating twists and turns. The romance was ok , not too heavy on the corny lines or the brooding. Overall it was a pretty [...]
